16 Years, Well Aged: Celebrating Viñas de la ERRE's Anniversary in Valle de Guadalupe

Sixteen years ago, a hilltop ranch overlooking Valle de Guadalupe traded cattle trails for rows of vines. Today, that same hilltop pours some of the region's most awarded estate reds — and on Saturday, August 15, 2026, we're celebrating sixteen years of family, wine, and everything in between with our biggest anniversary gathering yet. The theme this year is simple: 16 Years, Well Aged. Like our Gran Reservas, this winery only gets better with time — and we want you at the table (or the bar) to celebrate it with us. No reservation required. Just show up.

A Toast to 16 Years, Our Story So Far...
Our story didn't start with a business plan — it started with a visit. In 1985, Claudio and Nelly Rocha fell in love with the weather, the land, and the quiet beauty of Valle de Guadalupe. At the time, the property was Hacienda San Martín Caballero, a working cattle ranch and farm. Neither of them knew yet that it would one day become one of the valley's most recognized boutique wineries.
The turning point came in 2008, when Claudio met Rogelio Morales, then a respected winemaker at Spring Mountain Winery in Napa Valley. Rogelio saw what the Rochas hadn't fully seen yet: that the land was made for vines. His guidance, paired with the family's determination, set the estate on a new path.
By 2010, Viñas de la ERRE was officially born. It took four more years of hand-harvesting, barrel-aging, and patience before we opened our doors to the public in 2014. Every bottle since has carried the same trio behind it: winegrower Ernesto I. Rocha, mentor enologist Rogelio Morales, and Claudio Rocha overseeing the vineyard — a family effort from the first vine to the last pour.

What To Expect at the Anniversary Event
This year's celebration is bigger than our usual weekend tasting — we're handing part of the menu over to a guest we love. Exxealta Parrilla is taking over the grill starting at 2:00 PM, bringing their own fire-forward, smoky take on a classic parrillada to pair with our estate reds. Expect the kind of food that's built for a bold glass of Bordeaux-style blend.
Wine tasting kicks off earlier, at 11:00 AM, right at our signature 60-foot bar — the same one with the sunset view over the valley that made this hilltop worth planting in the first place.
We are celebrating Viñas de la ERRE's Anniversary with Live music that will carry through the afternoon, and true to who we are, the whole property stays family-friendly and pet-friendly all day. Bring the kids, bring the dog, grab a board game, and settle into one of our shaded seating nooks with a glass in hand.

Still Pouring, Still Growing: Our Enthusiasm for What's Next
Sixteen years in, we're still a small, family-run estate — and that's on purpose. Growth for us has never meant losing the parts of Viñas de la ERRE that make it feel like home: the same hilltop, the same trio of winemakers behind every bottle, the same open-door policy for walk-ins, families, and pets.
What's changed is what we're able to offer around that foundation — more estate wines in the portfolio, a growing calendar of private tastings and events, and a wedding and event venue that continues to welcome couples from Baja California, San Diego, and across Southern California to say "I do" with a view. Sixteen years feels like a milestone worth marking, but it also feels like the beginning of the next stretch — more vintages, more celebrations, more reasons to make the drive up the hill. We would love Celebrating Viñas de la ERRE's Anniversary together!
